Expert System
An expert system is one of the earliest forms of AI, designed to make decisions or solve problems in a specific area by mimicking the knowledge of a human expert. These systems use a set of rules, like “if this, then that,” to analyze information and give recommendations. For example, an expert system could help diagnose medical conditions by following a checklist based on symptoms.
Unlike modern AI, expert systems don't learn from data. They rely entirely on the knowledge programmed into them. While they’re not as flexible or powerful as newer AI models, they’re still useful in fields where decisions can be clearly mapped out in rules, like troubleshooting technical problems or managing logistics.
